How do I flash the Velobox SD card?

An SD card reader is required to flash the SD card. The SD card is in micro format, so an adapter may be required.

The recommended minimum size for the SD card is 8 GB.

Note

Depending on the card reader used, a micro-SD to SD adapter may be required.

What software is required?

The free software Balena Etcher is used to write the image to the SD card.

Preparation

Before you begin, the Velobox must be completely disconnected from the power supply.

Caution

The Velobox must only be opened when it is disconnected from the power supply.

How do you open the Velobox?

To access the SD card, the top cover of the Velobox must be removed.

To do this, proceed as follows:

1. Place the Velobox on its top so that the type plate is visible.
2. Loosen the two screws using a small Phillips screwdriver.
3. Then carefully open the casing.
4. The SD card is located on the underside of the green circuit board.

How do you flash the SD card?

1. Insert the SD card into the card reader and connect it to the computer.
2. Launch Balena Etcher.
3. Select “Flash from file” and load the downloaded image.
4. Select the SD card as the destination.
5. Make absolutely sure you select the correct drive. The size is usually around 7 to 8 GB.
6. Start the flashing process.

Caution

Check carefully that the correct SD card is selected. Selecting the wrong target drive may result in data loss.

What happens after flashing?

Once complete, the software will confirm that the process was successful.

Next:

1. Reinsert the SD card into the Velobox.
2. Reconnect the Velobox to the network.
3. Reconnect the power supply.

First start

The boot process takes longer than usual on the first start. The Velobox will restart several times during this process.

Do not interrupt

The power supply must not be interrupted during this process.

How do I access the Velobox after the update?

After about 5 minutes, the default page can be accessed at the following address:

http://veloboxiii.local

What should be done after the first start-up?

After the first start-up, the serial number must be entered. The Velobox will then restart again. After that, it can be accessed as usual.
